Make blankets from your living room —

If you live near St. John, Indiana & have a desire to fill empty arms, we welcome you to our local volunteer team of Home Makers.

All materials & supplies will be provided in our At Home kits that you can pick up & drop off at your own convenience. As our resources grow, we will create your kit, connect for your capacity & collect upon completion.

These volunteers hold a direct impact to our mission by helping us keep up with the ongoing demand of blankets on our growing list. Know that the work you do here is touching lives of the families holding these little ones in their hearts.

Why volunteer with Something to Hold?

There is a gap to be filled.

Every blanket & other gifts offered by STH goes right into the hands of loved ones or families impacted by the loss of a baby they will never get to raise or know about. The heartbreak of miscarriage, stillbirth & infant loss is one that is just now being talked about more — finding that closure in loss is so important & without story telling in community, these families may struggle to heal. These blankets are tangible comforts representing these babies we do not get to hold. Amidst a hardship that carries many "I’m not sure what to say or do” we can now offer that “thing” to do. To learn more about the personal story behind Something to Hold, read more here.

We’re together.

Even if you are on your couch tying blankets alone, you are very far from solidarity. The community that has ran behind this mission from day one is mind blowing & it is not slowing down. From our local region to states around the country, there are willing hands offering to meet these needs. For our specific Home Maker volunteer teams, being local offers many opportunities to unite as a family & we are very excited to see where our serving teams go right along side one another.

There is purpose.

God given gifts & talents is something worth tapping into. We all walk different paths & learn different skills & sometimes the only thing we are missing is the outlet to channel that into. This was the case for myself, personally. As someone who is “multi-passionate” & craving a purposeful direction - this has answered many prayers.

For my fellow mamas of loss, this is how I mother my first two babies in heaven. The ones I do not get to know enough about. My prayer is that if this can be that same opportunity for other moms of loss, then move there Lord.

There is growth.

Which brings ever changing opportunities. Not only is our request list growing, but the spaces & needs to meet those wait lists. As we adapt in this growth, new serving positions & places we don’t even know about yet are openings for others to step into to use their talents. We are eager to see where this continues to go & grow & know that we absolutely cannot & never could do this without willing hands & serving hearts.

We are called!

…to serve & to be in community. "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25
